First chapter now published!

T&M has already published the 'PRELUDE' to this exciting new series of articles from Alvin Gibbs about his life and U.K. Subs-experiences...
Alvin has promised the website that his memoirs for T&M will be "a literary excursion through the fetid underbelly of infamy, glory, frustration, elation, chaos, indifference, contentment and pride which feature in equal measure in relation to my personal involvement with the United Kingdom Subversives."
Alvin will also trawl his own personal Subs collection of ephemera and memorabilia to provide some suitable scans and photographs to accompany this exciting project.
Check out the new section in T & MIsc! to the right called "Alvin Gibbs' memoirs"

URBAN DOGS ACCOUSTIC ALBUM UPDATE
9 July 2011:
The release of the eagerly awaited Urban Dogs accoustic album, recorded by Charlie and Knox between 2009 and 2010, looks like being delayed until early 2012... Time & Matter has recently been informed by Knox that they are still waiting for Stan (of Demented Are Go) to finish mixes, but he's having to work all the time at the moment so hasn't found the time to do them.
Knox has recently sold one of his paintings which is an idea for the album cover. It was done in pen and acrylic on paper, and measured roughly 6 " x 8 " (15cm x 20cm). See right. Click to enlarge.
Charlie & Knox currently have one Urban Dogs accoustic gig pencilled in for Portsmouth (venue to be confirmed) on Sunday 17 June 2012, and there are plans afoot for some more... more news when we get it!

U.K. SUBS' JAPANESE EARTHQUAKE DISASTER FUND
Latest update 21 July 2011 - Total raised so far £176.35
Following the horrific events in Japan, in March 2011, in which U.K. Subs guitarist Jet was present, but survived, Charlie and Yuko asked for information to be made available on the Time & Matter homepage about how to donate to the Japanese relief efforts.
Yuko now has a 'Japanese earthquake relief fund' donation box at her merchandise stall at every Subs gig. Please continue to support the fund with any donation you can - however big or small. The news on the aftermath of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster may have been sidelined by the British media, but please don't forget that the effects will be felt by those who suffered it for years to come.
Jet himself has now expressed his wish that, "...if any Subs fans would like to donate, but can't make it to any of our gigs, then please donate via the Japanese Red Cross..."
Many organisations worldwide are collecting money to help fund the continuing relief effort in Japan. The Red Cross is the key aid organisation, collecting donations for relief efforts and the Japanese branch of the organisation was overseeing around 80 teams on the ground soon after the earthquake and tsunami struck, donations can also be taken at branches around the world.
Time & Matter website will be donating all profits from the sale of the U.K. Subs 'Tour In Progress' double DVD and a 7" single they are releasing to help a family in Japan - more news of which soon...
The band would like to thank everyone so far who has popped some money into the fund-box on Yuko's merch stall.
Prairie Dugz’ generous Subs charity offer
Ram Dug, of the Scottish punk band the Prairie Dugz has kindly offered to donate £1-00 from the sale of every Prairie Dugz t-shirt that they sell at this year’s Rebellion Festival, to the U.K. Subs’ Japanese earthquake relief fund.
You can catch the Dugz on the Olympia 1 stage at Rebellion in Blackpool on Sunday, 7 August at 12:00.
Get there on time for a pogo in your new Dugz t-shirt folks!
There are 7 other Prairie Dugz albums you can buy, so check out the Prairie Dugz weblinks at the foot of this article.
Charlie on the forthcoming Prairie Dugz album
The new album from the Prairie Dugz, called 'Scottish Street Punk' is a live-in-the-studio recording. It was done on a recent tour of Ireland with the Defects, who offered to record it free. It will feature 10 tracks, including Buck of the Defects singing the Dugz’ old classic ‘Lockdown’ as well as Charlie Harper singing a song that Ram Dug wrote last year called ‘Caught in a War’. Raucous production and performance go hand-in-hand on this essential street punk release.
Price will be £5.00 and the limited edition CD should be available at Rebellion.

Want Jamie Oliver to drum on your recordings?
U.K. Subs drummer Jamie Oliver is now providing a new service called REMOTE SESSIONS…
Jamie, via his excellent website Jamieoliverdrums.com, is offering his fabulous drumming talent for your band or recording.
Jamie can provide you with high quality drum tracks for your record no matter where you are in the world. What he will do is record the drums in London and send you the raw audio files for you to do with as you please. This completely does away with the high costs usually associated with the hire of a session drummer.
How it works:
Jamie requires a deposit of 25% of the full amount and a rough copy of your song(s) to get the ball rolling. Once this is all settled he will then write the drum parts according to your specifications and send you a rough, low quality 1-track demo of the part for your approval. Once the green light is given and the amount outstanding has been settled, Jamie will then go in and lay the drum tracks down for real in his studio and will send you a download link, a login username and a password so you can download the audio files.
Example:
The link below is an example of a recent recording Jamie did, with no EQ on any of the drums, so no mixing whatsoever.
'Dissociative Drums' - a sample of Jamie's recording
Pricing:

TONY BEESLEY'S 'OUR GENERATION' BOOK TRIOLOGY
The ‘Our Generation’ trilogy of books started in 2008 by first time writer, Tony Beesley. Aiming to set the record straight about the effect Punk and its many varied aftershocks had in the North of England, in particular the writer’s home turf of Sheffield and the South Yorkshire region, the 3 volumes have been positively received by music fans world wide. Time & Matter website recently caught up with the author to ask him about the UK Subs content in his books...

"People, people, people, get involved. Play your guitar, do your fanzines, take photos BE INVOLVED. One day it could all be worth something because it's not only history but the future too. So live it, don't just be part of the audience, participate."
Charlie Harper, 17 December 1998 - quoted from an interview in Scanner Fanzine Issue 3

"If you want to know more about the line-up changes, or spot any holes in the discography, please make an urgent appointment with a counsellor. The UK Subs are an institution, of sorts. The fact that I like them, despite being as fashionable as asbestos, doubtless disqualifies me from polite society."
...which is our favourite quote from 'No More Heroes', by ALEX OGG.
(Cherry Red Books, 2006)
"Thanks to 'Time & Matter', I was finally re-united with the UK Subs after thirty years!
I went to see them on Saturday in Aberdeen. What a great experience, really enjoyed it
....... can't stop grinning !"
