The Berlin Lights – ‘Hit The Floor’ released on 1/12/2011

Subs fans may recall that Sam played a solo-acoustic set at the 12 Bar Club on Charlie's 65th Birthday party back in 2009.
The track, 'Hit The Floor' includes a harmonica solo by Charlie along with Sam Jones on vocals, guitar & piano, Trev Heaton on bass and Danny Ward on Drums. It was recorded at the Gun Factory Studios.

The Berlin Lights (TBL for short) intend to bring a new sound to the city and to create a new audience along the way.

Sam Jones:"I hope, if anything, this band will represent the minority who still believe in their country and who are unafraid to show some civic pride regardless of where they are from. Britain has no energy anymore and nobody seems to care or even notice."

TBL are mainly a studio band who try to avoid the current trend of using social networking sites and photo shoots to sell themselves; they formed at Gun Factory Studios in Stoke Newington last year. The all-British, 2/3 northern, London-based band do a very limited number of shows, so watch out for them on:

Sam Jones:"We would like to see an end to the current nerd culture that dominates the music industry.”

The blistering 2m 30sec anthem by 'Hit The Floor' is the band’s debut single - after a decade of obscurity and solo projects frontman Sam Jones (31) finally braces us with this track. The forthcoming album, yet to have the finishing touches put to it, will make use of a vintage Harmony H-22 semi-acoustic bass guitar played by engineer Trev Heaton, it will also feature many guest appearances from friends of the band.
The band was started by Jones as a studio project, draw on a wide range of influences such as Mod, Grunge & 60s Garage. Some of the tracks, such as 'Guns Of A Revolution', touch upon the current state of Britain’s youth following the recent riots.

When did the youth become so cheap, condemning themselves to a lifetime sat in front of a laptop computer and messaging on mobiles, unable to do anything or communicate without this technology we’re being forced to conform to?"
