Synopsis of UK Subs content: This is a truly fantastic book, featuring many main figures in the early Punk movement, and those that followed. The book takes a chronological format, from Punk's influences and so on. There are many fascinating interviews and opinions, and suffice to say that the book has an extremely important account of Charlie Harper's musical development, early influences, musical loves and experiences during the 1960s and 1970s. The book also contains John Lydon's particularly 'rotten' put-down of the UK Subs, but John Robb's reasoned rebuttal to the Sex Pistols' mainman's views are succinct, satisfying and spot on!
